It's probably a little late for the OP, but my strong suggestion to anyone planning to have to travel with a wedding dress is to consider that when obtaining the dress. Some materials travel better than others, and plan on how to carry it right from the start. My daughter had hers packed in a in a regular carry on bag by the store where she purchased it, it came out of that bag in a tropical climate, was hung up and needed no ironing etc., although we did travel with a small clothes steamer just in case.
