Thanks for the replies. Makes sense.

Secondary question. Not sure if this deserves another thread, but it is semi related to the perks question.

If I fly internationally, where the first bag is free anyway, say US to Europe, does that effectively cancel out the "first bag flies free" perk from the credit card? Or does this perk count towards 2 bags being free for flying internationally?
