CATSA at YYZ Transborder required shoes to be removed. On Oct. 9 went through metal detector with shoes - no beeping but was told that I had to take them off and put them on the x-ray belt.

Inquired from a screening agent and was told for transborder, yes - shoes off, but for domestic, no, shoes on. Not sure about international.
