Who needs miles when you fly F/J for 25% of the normal fare? I wouldn't mind if I could do that!
I mean, when you fly F/J, you get much of the benefits of any elite program anyway, and also I'd rather put aside the money saved and spend it somewhere else rather than get miles ie. I prefer
money
But I can see why SQ does that, if they're unwilling to upgrade almost ANYONE, presumably including people who personally spend $1m or more per year on J tickets. You can just imagine the anger from people who paid over $4500 US for a SIN-LHR J ticket who have just found out that his seatmate's ticket cost a little above $1000 US...
I guess allowing this would be just another example of "F/J product dilution", a
sin by their corporate culture.
