Just returned from Europe and felt that a trip report may be beneficial for some. Planned this trip out well in advance, using points for all hotel stays. I also contacted the manager of each hotel prior to my stay to ensure they were aware this was our honeymoon. I think that alone was the most advantageous thing I did. So... Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich, Milan, and Rome in two weeks. Did my research, but still couldn't manage scoring an award stay for the Flora in Rome, stuck with the courtyard. Other than that, all requests were fulfilled for booking.
Amsterdam Renaissance
Stayed here a bunch for work. Upgraded to an exec club level room with a nice view. Presented with champagne and fruits in the room. Breakfast (platinum) at the exec lounge was ok. Decent selection of lunch meats and stuff but no hot food. Large area though and relaxing feel.

Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees
Standard room on the first floor. Facing the outdoor restaurant/cafe. Didn't go for the $150 "upgraded view room" after much research here. Wasn't a bad room at all. Champagne, bottle of wine, huge fruit basket, and chocolates when we arrived. Amazing. The wifey loved the L'occitane soap and quickly banished me from using it and took most of it home! Now, the breakfast...was...amazing. No lounge, just the restaurant. Platinum comp'd here as well, and was by far the best breakfast throughout our hotel stays.

Zurich Marriott
Great hotel staff, service was amazing at check-in and throughout our stay. Room was very nice. Top floor, beautiful view, larger room with really big bathroom and shower. Great arrival gifts; champagne, wine, and about 4-5 boxes of nice swiss chocolates and more chocolate on a plate. Ate at the Ecco restaurant, great food. Zurich in general seemed more expensive than the Champs though. Crazy prices everywhere. Really impressed with the staff here overall.

Milan Marriott
Upgraded to a junior suite on the top floor. A little dated, but can't complain. Huge balcony, nice bathroom, etc. Nice staff here too. No "honeymoon" arrival gift. Breakfast was ok at the lounge, minimal selection (lunch-meats,fruit,etc), but what they did have was ok to get you through to lunch. Location was not within walking distance to downtown Milan, but taxis were onsite within a couple minutes of request to concierge.

Courtyard Rome Central Park
Researched showed that the location was not within walking distance of anything relevant. Again, no choice as the Autograph wasn't available at the time and Flora wasn't accepting award stays. Check-in process was outstanding, a guy by the name of Chris at the front desk made this less than impressionable hotel, somewhat appealing. Top floor room with balcony and view of Rome. Room was actually ok. Smallest of the bunch but not bad. Updated recently. No breakfast. Shuttle service to downtown Rome was ok @ 3 euros each, but didn't provide service late enough, last pickup in rome was at 9:30pm. Subways quit at 9pm as a result of some renovations being done at night.
Overall I was really happy with everything. Marriott acknowledged how important this trip was, and delivered. Makes me want to leverage the honeymoon thing more often!
Other notable pieces of info:
- Plat arrival gift offered at every hotel
- Received points for some incidentals at JW Marriott's
- No issues with plat breakfasts at Marriotts, courtyard isn't covered and they let us know on arrival.
