I did not. But UA895/896 HKG-SIN-HKG are going away on 10/29-30, replaced by CO99/98, so it's a bit of a moot point. Maybe HKG is short on UA catering items with the changes coming up. No plate under the bread is a bit unclassy; a flight attendant who doesn't notice nor care is even more so.

I think the new CO service will be a let-down all around. A CO 738 is not designed for long-haul travel like a 747/777, and the flight attendants will be CO, and GUM-based. They will be flying HKG-SIN, arriving at 1:30 a.m., then turning around to work the return SIN-HKG at 5:30 a.m. (not spending two nights in SIN like the HKG-based UA flight attendants do now). Such a schedule would make me grumpy!
