I just had a call from AMEX and they told me that status match for the old cards are valid until the end of the year (so NOT until 18.11.11). This means if you get Silver/Gold/Plat via the extra segment under the new card (from 19.11.11), you still get status match for all cards that were made under the old card. As I will be given all my friends 'a card', everybody gets Silver for me. Which comes in handy for our trip together at the end of the year
