DTW is generally a lousy home base for MRs on any airline. I almost always have to position to another city. Fortunately ORD is a cheap flight or drive away.

You can do a same-day trip to PSP/ONT/RNO on AA many days through the end of the year for $262 all in though. I'm burning a voucher that was to expire next week on a DTW-DFW-RNO-ORD-DTW same day run.
