Usually, I'll stay wherever it is. Do some sightseeing if it's somewhere I've never been before, or just eat up all the hotel wifi if I'm bored.
I would do this as well..
Evaluate the changes, and see if there are interesting places to see..
If change fees can be saved, and used towards additional travel/hotel expenses.. a very important consideration..
