Yes, the "group" fare promotion that og mentions is a good deal. I believe it's only til 3/31/04. There are various deals and promotions from AE from time to time.

While I always take the cheaper Airport Bus, when my parents travel to HK, they have a more opened mind, and usually only decide after arrival which route to take - based on amount of luggage, time of day, latest promotion, etc... For example, while those hotel shuttles' official rate to Kowloon hotels are $120/ea, they were charged $90/ea in December. [Not sure exactly why and how.]

There is even more competition from hotel to airport. Basically, every local in Hong Kong knows that you can just flag down a taxi cab (or even call their dispatch) and negotiate a rate to HKG, instead of paying by the meter. Latest rate I've heard is HK$170 from Kowloon to HKG, which is about HK$100 cheaper than what the official HKG site estimates. It's illegal, but "everybody does it".

And if one absolutely wants the lowest rate to HKG, there are still other ways, like the "E" buses for about HK$20 from city (compared to ~$35-40 for "A" buses), or take the MTR to Kwai Fong, and connect to E32 bus for HK$10.
