I think many 'older' customers don't have ipods/ipads etc. But you're right (IME) that the trend is clearly going towards people providing their own IFE compared even to 2 years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if PTVs were removed in the future, what with oil prices as they are -and instead increased onboard connectivity being offered. Another good opportunity for the airlines to nickel and dime the customer.
