My thoughts were the same as yours. Hope this is not a preview of the future direction of UA.
UA is now run by a CEO from CO & most of the changes since the merger reflect that. The future direction of UA is pretty much what Smisek had envisioned for CO, except that the plan is now about 1.5X bigger after the two airlines are fully combined.
