Yesterday I was advised by the UA Medical Desk, that the ability to reserve oxygen for flights has been stopped effective October 3rd. The service is just no longer available.
CO did not have this service, so I guess the new UA thought they should just get rid of it as well. You are still able to use a :POC, that is approved, but you must have battery life of 1.5 X the flight hours. You may Not plug into the 110V plugs on the aircraft. When you live in Asia as I do, you would require a great deal of battery service to fulfill that 1.5 X battery life.
A POC is approx. $ 4,000.00 to $ 5,000.00 with batteries. A lot of people could just not afford them. A great service just seems to have been done away with the merger. It's not like you didn't have to pay for this, $ 125.00 per segment. SAD ...and I guess goodbye to UA
