Indeed. I bought duty free on board when I did MCO-LGW-EDI last month and the routine at LGW was thus - the staff member picked up the plastic bag from the tray, looked at the contents (I assume the check that it was still sealed and the receipt was there), shouted 'duty free clear' and popped it back in my tray. It came through the machine and back to me without further comment or issue.
