Thanks so much jiejie, does anyone know how we might be able to book a private car from Siem Reap to Phnom Pehn in advance?
Thanks so much!

Yes, they do stretch out things unnecessarily, IMO. I did PP-Kampot by share taxi and as I was in a hurry, bought 2 seats' worth for $25 so we didn't have to wait. A couple of other people were also heading in that direction. We only took 2 hours I think, to get there by the car--at that time the one of the main highways was under serious construction, so we took a parallel road that speeded things up. Heading back the other direction, the Sorya bus took the road under construction and we seemed to spend about 4 hours on that journey. But on that route at that time, no other public bus options and I was being a cheap charlie that day.
