I've never had a problem keeping unchanged segments at low miles whether changing on-line or on the phone. However, I don't recall if I've ever changed partner segments on an int'l itinerary, so as with most things with DL, ymmv. Every time I've changed a segment all of the miles get redeposited and then charged again, even if when it's the same # of miles.
