When I called one-time I was also told this line. I think it's just a thing they say to end the discussion. Or does someone sees any logic in FB calling AMEX clients with discounts for an AMEX card???

Because when I called for the second time I got an offer without any problem and did not have to hear above bull** again. The AMEX agent at the line did had to check with a supervisor first (if that is no sales trick too). But then I received the offer I was first refused. It was all placed into their system right away, while I was on the line. At least I think so, as the amex employer was typing/doing stuff.

Note: I called before Oct. 1st, but can not imagine that an american company does not want their customers to be satisfied by simply extending the "offers deadline". I always have good experience with US companies regarding customer satisfaction. Something lots of dutch companies can learn something of. But technically AMEX NL is dutch

It was discussed in this thread that FB or KL selected customers who were supposed to be called by the external sales team (not Amex) and offered a special deal if they chose the new Platinum card. Therefore, Amex was reluctant to extend this offer to customers who called Amex directly before Oct 1 (it depended on whom you got to talk to)
