Personally, I always just pretend to be the person I'm phoning for as it saves a lot of time.
This is what I get others to do for me on my behalf. I've given up with friends/family telling companies they are calling on my behalf as it just end up causing issues one way or another and life's too short explaining it to a disinterested call-centre worker who can't deviate from a script.
I just try and use people who know me really well so that my various names, birthdays, schools etc aren't an issue.
