Just for curiosity, are there different demographics in terms of passengers taking CX flight out of NA? I would assume that demographic passengers for LAX is different from YYZ, YVR, and SFO. Unlike YYZ, YVR, or SFO; LAX does not have a large HK immigrant population, so this market must be targeted more towards large corporations doing business between the 2 cities as well as for the other large LAX ethnic groups such as Filipinos, Vietnamese, and Taiwanese who would fly CX and connect to MNL, SGN, or TPE via HKG; and also for other passengers from other US airports who would route via LAX to fly CX since LAX has the most domestic flight for connection convenience. The HK immigration population factor also explains the reason why YVR has a daytime flight and LAX doesn't. As for the JKF flight, I don't really know because the flight is via YVR and there are lots of people from BC and NY who fly only on that leg.
