I think the breakfast thing is not flight-specific but has to do with the time of day. For SFO-HKG which lands at 6:30am, the full breakfast is served. But if you get the so-called brunch at 3-6pm which happens if you are flying from HKG to SFO, you are right... there is no cereal/yogurt.
