I used to enjoy Vientienne Kitchen on Suk Soi 36. Haven't been in a few years, so can't confirm what it's like now. Ton Krueng on Thonglor 55/Soi 13 was also very good.
I guess I would take the croaking frogs than suffer what the Vientienne Kitchen offers.
