If my wife prefers to sit with me more than sit F>J (yeah, some non-FTers actually would do that,

), and I ask her to be voluntarily downgraded (J award isn't available to book), maybe a Supervisor (if I know F isn't full) will see that I'm not just looking to upgrade, but really it's sitting with my wife that is the priority... at least a Supervisor has such autonomy to do that? If so, when/where should I ask for the Supervisor (ticket counter, lounge, gate)?
Thanks!
Let me put in gently to you... if you dare ask for an upgrade, the chances are that you as a AAdvantage passenger will be put way down the list. CX GAs really don't like AAdvantage people asking for freebie upgrades. - insider knowledge.
If you really want to be guaranteed to sit in F, well, pay for the difference.
Otherwise, honestly what harm is it to be seperated by a couple of hours in a different cabin?
