Correct. "No changes" means no changes. I call them "travel [as booked] or bust" fares.
Depending on the fare rules, you may be able to book an inflexible fare one-way and a more flexible fare the other. That will probably require booking on the phone, though.
Having a quick look at random dates, doing this (inflex one-way and semi-flex the other) adds about £1,000 to the price.
