Oops, originally it read 'Delta platinum' as I head Delta on my mind. I am asking about amex platinum...

We've been Gold Premier members for about 8 months now and are averaging a sizeable amount per month on household charges. When the year mark comes around and we are eligible to upgrade, is it likely they'll give us an upgrade promotion? We like the Gold Premier too much to give it up, so we'll probably end up opening a new GP account if we switch to platinum, but we are traveling enough to make the platinum benefits worth it.

I guess ideally we'd like to leave the Gold card alone, and apply for a new platinum, but obviously would prefer to wait if we could expect some targeted promotions.
