The world outside the plane is so interesting!
I can understand not looking out the window if you are not sitting next to the window, or if you are at 37000 feet or in a sea of fog, but what I don't understand is people who are sitting at the window seat and the plane is circling at a relatively low level on a landing approach on a clear day.
Recently I was flying into Reagan National Airport and the weather was so clear and we circled over the DC area for about 30 minutes waiting for a landing slot. It was like a scenic flight that people would pay good money for. We flew over Great Falls VA, and a number of other scenic attractions and neighborhoods. We likely went over a number of passengers homes and workplaces. And finally we went over Georgetown and could see all the historic and scenic areas along the Washington Mall. To me the tour of the Washington area from the air was so interesting. I looked around and most of the people who had window seats were no looking out but instead were reading or dozing. What a wasted opportunity!
