I'm also trying to do an AA mileage run from ORD before the end of the year. I just need 7000 miles to maintain Platinum. The deals I'm liking so far are the International Getaways for Next Weekend. Not sure how many miles you want, but I've been seeing ORD to Paris, Dublin, or London for about $300 before tax, or $0.03-.04 per mile. It looks like you're working at around $0.05 per mile before tax. And I like using the the Atlantic in-lieu of domestic layovers!
Then again I've heard of 1-2 cents per mile... this is my first run ever, so I'm very open to suggestions...

Let's look at ORD-DUB. At $300 EACH WAY, it comes to $698.90 after tax. You get 3674x2 = 7348 EQMs (the only miles that matter here). That's 9.5 cents/EQM, an absolutely terrible deal. Other locations won't be significantly better.
