It also depends on the outlet. The real upscale one is supposed to be the one at the Paragon mall, but IMO it's nowhere near as good as the one at Suntec (close to the fountain) which I prefer over all others. So yeah, even in Singapore they are not entirely consistent.

Not into Japanese food at all unless it's sushi, but I did notice a Thai place on Burrard that seemed quite nice though we never gave it a try. Is it any good?

Don't like eating at hotels in general so never went into the Shangri-La or Sutton Place hotel.

It could well still be a top place. But overall many hotels have lowered their standards in recent years, even much, much better hotels than the one housing Iggy's.

You wouldn't normally hear about 50% deals unless you live in Singapore, but they do have them as a fixed offer at places like the Fairmont, Swissotel and Meritus Mandarin chains and probably a few others. You basically purchase a membership pack which gives you a special card that is valid for 1 year (and includes all sorts of vouchers like a free bottle of wine, 1-for-1 drinks, etc.):
