The scope clause says all flying will be done by mainline pilots unless there is an exception. I haven't read it in a while and don't remember all the exceptions but without a wholly owned sub, AA can't use non-mainline pilots to fly certain routes. That apparently includes BOS-JFK and STL-JFK. Apparently they are going to try BOS-JFK with mainline but gave up on STL-JFK.

Some of these cancellations may be maneuvering for position. The APA knows some of these routes are too thin for mainline and JFK needs the feed for international routes. But, if they give in, they need something to show for it. Then again, the AA furloughed pilot list should be completed by the end of the year.

I predict a limited deal to permit commuters on certain routes for a limited period of time pending further negotiation.

Some of this is a bit crazy. Then again, the APA doesn't want to see B6 codeshares running STL-JFK to feed AA international.

Now, if only they could cooperate just like our elected officials!
