The reviews and comments about the BA lounge at FCO haven't all been very positive, but to me it seems like an ok place even if a bit old and nothing out of the ordinary.

However, do I have other options available? The oneworld.com lounge finder also lists Lounge I Mosaici and ADR LeAnfore Lounge, but with small print noting they are operated by a third party, with capacity constraints, and that access may not apply. I'll be flying AY who do have a contract with the I Mosaici lounge, but I'm not sure if BAEC status will give access, or if either of these is worth choosing over the BA lounge anyway.

At this point I'm not even sure where my flight will be departing and which of the lounges will be nearby. I'm guessing the gate will be somewhere near I Mosaici, which is in Terminal B according to oneworld.com, or in Terminal 3 according to finnair.com. The BA lounge is just listed as being "airside". Which is a good location for a departure lounge, but not very specific.
I mosaici is at former Terminal B which is now T3 Shengen area.

BA is T3 non Shengen area. Besides I've read that the BA lounge is about to be heavily refurbished from Executive club lounge to Gallery style lounge. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you're BA Silver or Gold then you'll have access to i Mosaici which is a rather good lounge. Clean. With an outside view. A full attended bar. Food options are some finger sandwiches or tramesini and some biscuits.
The FCO BA lounge is certainly in need of a refurb !!!
