I found a different Rodeway Inn that was $25 all-in and I got miles for the stay despite not checking in. However I'm not going to book any more stays there because I'd rather get my last couple hits with $100 hotel rooms that I'll actually use and get value from.

IMO there is no right way or wrong way, I did in fact checkin and out , but not everyone has the ways to earn cheap hits, or some hits at all. So the Key IMO is to sit down and write down all the possible Hits you can do and what each may cost. Then if say the # is 45 so 1 by 1 start to cross some off the list.
IMO getting a B of A Debit card for $30 and 3k in Miles is much better then buying 1k from US, but if a person has too many checking accts already that wont help or as in my case Im off on a 2 week Intl trip so by teh time I realized that I figured I wont get the DC before I left and most likely it would be used but my statement could close after 11/14 and thusly not count as a Hit.
theres a Garden shop on my corner Roses are $19.99 for 2 dz and he discounts that to me. cant see blowing an additional $40+ just for a hit, which wouldnt be 2 dz Roses either.
