Personally I would have taken the offer of F on YVR-HKG.

I don't know what happened, but I flew BOS-JFK that same day, and my BOS-JFK segment was uneventful and I had no problem there. The fact that AA was unable to issue me a boarding pass for the JFK-YVR-HKG segment I didn't think was a major issue, since it isn't like getting from T8/T9 in JFK to T7 can be considered a sterile, seamless process (far from it, JFK is a fine example of what an airport shouldn't be).

The offer of the YVR-HKG didn't come up until I brought it up. If I hadn't, they wouldn't have offered, because no-one on the plane knew of my situation. At that point, I was so mad only wanted to sleep. I can sleep in NBC just fine (which I did), although I did keep slipping and gave myself a wedgie. As for PJs, I happened to have an old VS set (the very nice ones, from 5 years ago), so I put those on.
