At checkin No welcome gift or card shown . Was upgraded to a harbour view from the standard. Upon arriving to the exe lounge I wanted to use the computers to see wha I could do about not receiving the welcome gift I didn't want to use my iPhone harder to see and needed a desktop. At the lounge sorry the pc are in the business centre in the lobby so down I go.
I enter with my key all fine and then log in with no success. I line up at the elite members line and asked for some help with the internet and was told it's $6 per 15mins which I replied I'm a Plat member, anyway stil had to pay . After logging in and going thru the elite members gaurantee I saw Internet free which I wasn't sure because it was in the lobby and I also read about the $100 US comp for not receiving the gif on arrival . Next I asked to speak to the FO manager. Who was nice and said sorry about the Internet but it is charged to all guest but he could refund the $6 to me. Said forgot about it I and then we moved onto the arrival.
Afte he investigated he noticed and apologized that the staff membe who checked me in had selected the points howeve wasn't attached to the ergo card and it was incorrect procedure, something was wrong he needs to authorize the $100US in the morning and all should be fine ,goodnight .
Next morning into the restaurant for full breakfast and then proceeded down to check out. Was checked out like normal so I asked for another FO manager which a lady appeared and said good morning mr .... How can I help. I asked if anyone had been notified of the $100US comp I'm seeking and was told that the senior manager who checked me in asked what amenity I would like and I replied points which is B.S. she said tha would never happen and left it a that I asked to talk to an agent from Marriott rewards desk. After holding for 15 mins and didn't want to ruin the rest of my day I paid the bill and left.
Walking out I noticed I was charged for 3 local calls and for two breakfast my body was like fire. I went back and asked for a manager who knew what they were doing and the GM came out. Mr ... I'm GM how can I help. Have you had plat guests stay a your property before I don't think so, I pass her the bill. She looks over what seems to be the problem and I explain and she replied you took the points option(BS) I'm staying for the US grand slam why the hell would I take the points option! Secondly internet in the room is free but outside the room it is not, lastly the rate I'm on I can tell it doesn't include breakfast because of the letters starting with the booking it's a special rate and neve includes breakfast. So they charged me an extra $80 for full breakfast and local calls (free?) no welcome gift and charged me for the internet in the lobby.
All this occurred the SYDNEY HARBOUR MARRIOTT!!
Sounds like my general experiences in Sydney.
