My shoes have metal in them- it sets off the machines 75% of the time- so rather than be slowed down each time, I simply remove them and put them through with my other stuff--no matter where I am (Canada, Europe, Asia etc)-- much faster and more efficient.
Yeah, I was watching this happen for virtually every single person who were ahead of me. Luckily, the CATSA guy just told them to take off their shoes and walk though the scanner again. Saved a bunch of time. ^ Even saw someone with runners set off the detector. I didn't think there was metal in runners??
