Those comments are great! And they're absolutely right. LY actually said in the post, "well everyone else is doing it." That's why you should NOT to it!

(I must say, $25 for an overweight bag isn't bad at all. But that's besides the point.)

That's a shame. AF/KLM still allow 2 bags, though it seems to be a race, with no one wanting to be the last airline to remove that benefit.
