I have to agree with the HKG reco in that thread - was great even in November when I went last year. Hong Kong is nearly tropical, so going closer to winter is a good idea to avoid brutal temperatures. Must-do's include walking around (and haggling in) flea markets in Kowloon, taking the world's longest escalator (somewhat of a misnomer) and walking back down, a cool bird sanctuary, a visit to a tea shop, a dusk-to-night tram ride up to Victoria peak (the tram boarding is an experience in itself!), and a day-trip to Macau (the historical areas were more interesting than the Cotai Strip to me).
