If I were starting from ATL and wanted to combine a multi-stop trip to Europe, with a later trip to Hawaii, I would try to fly one of these itineraries as a oneworld award (130,000 AAdvantage miles in Business Class -- or First Class on two-cabin AA domestic flights):
atl-lga, jfk-lhr, bru-bud-fco-mad-ord-cha-dfw-hnl-dfw-atl
OR
Atl-lga, jfk-lhr, cdg-bud-fco-mad-ord-cha-dfw-ogg-dfw-atl
Each comes to just under 20,000 flown miles.
A few things to note:
1. You would have to get yourself from LGA to JFK (although you could also choose to stop over in NYC);
2. You would take the train from LON to PAR or BRU. The money you save by not flying out of LON (UK fees plus BA fuel surcharge) should pretty much cover the cost of the Eurostar train trip, at least if you can book the train a month or so in advance.
3. On the return from Europe, your lengthy stopover would be at CHA, since you cannot stop over at ATL if your oneworld award begins or ends there. You would have to get yourself from CHA to ATL and back again to complete your trip -- perhaps using one-way car rentals;
4. No MIA on this itinerary: it would push the flown mileage to over 20,000, which would raise the award cost to 150,000 AAdvantage miles. But you do get roundtrip travel to Hawaii, in First Class, in addition to stopovers in Europe.
Note that all oneworld rewards require that you fly a minimum of two of AA's oneworld partners. Here, you would be using MA and IB. And all travel on AA awards -- whether an AAdvantage award, an All-Partner award, or a oneworld award -- must be completed within one year of award-ticket issuance.
