May I suggest buying a few gift cards (before the 19th, natch) for stores where you already do a lot of shopping?
i.e. grocery stores... and then you & your family burn off the gift cards yourself, instead of making credit card purchases.
That way, you easily can "spend" a few hundred dollars earlier.
