Overall, I've been underwhelmed with most of my US upper-midscale dining outside of the SF Bay Area. This includes BOS/NYC/CHI. There's an intangible that I can't quite place, but it is probably the produce freshness/quality/availability. That isn't to say I haven't had very good meals that were enjoyable (service, wine, etc.) but it isn't the same, especially the price point for quality. Yes, eating your menu after you order is interesting, and somewhat tasty, but really, how many courses of foam can you eat?
