No reduction in fee for BA Amex to new Plat holders, only grandfathered reduced fees for old holders... and even that disappearing, judging by reports in the BA forum.

And for first year, only way (aiui) to reduce cost is to go through Quidco/topcashback. In subsequent years some people report success in negotiating lower fee/some freebies based on decent spend levels....
