Short story: Had planned for months to take the fambly to Hilton Head for Prancing Fawn's nine-year-old birthday soiree, but hurricane Irene suggested we make alternate plans. We decided to hit Hotlanta instead (Six Flags, the Varsity, Stone Mountain, the Big Chicken, etc.) and stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Airport North. I merely mentioned our situation to the desk clerk, checked in, yadda yadda yadda.

We were in our room ten minutes when there was a knock on our door. They brought us birthday cake, sang to my daughter, and gave her a little trinket gift! The staff at that hotel rocks the casa. Very pleased.
