OK so this lifetime upgrades every year "metric" seems to be one of the
DUMBEST things I've seen the new United do yet.
This makes absolutely NO SENSE. IF I give United my business and fly 100K on UA I get what I normally would get 6GPUs, IF I fly AA 100K I get 8E-VIPs and 6 GPUs... what metric did you use to figure out that this won't steer revenue to UA? I'd probably fly a couple r/ts on UA till my GPUs were gone then go fly AA.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING IS: Offer 3MM 4 GPUs annually AND if they hit the 100K PQM then they should get 6 more GPUs.
Same thing with Platinum, no reason to fly the extra miles on UA if you're going to get the same amount of upgrades. You should NOT insult customers by saying we are rewarding your loyalty by rewarding those that stop flying UA with Upgrades and those that continue to fly UA don't get the free upgrades, they earn them with loyalty.
Also SINCE the NEW United is SO big on rewarding loyalty, a 1K MM should trump a 1K in upgrades, a Plat MM should trump a Plat in upgrades.
And LASTLY, the
Maximum spouse match should only be to 1K for the spouse, not Global Service, even if the member is a lifetime GS.
Customers are not always about Metrics you have to step outside the box sometimes and look at what you're dealing with.
The new United with it's what have you done for me on this flight mentality is not going to be around very long, the
REAL United, prior to the Continental Staff taking over at least understood the customer and had been making some positive changes up until the merger.
I want my
pillow back!

Every Year pretty much means I expect them every year
Three (3) systemwide upgrades immediately
Two (2) confirmed regional upgrades
at the end of every year
