Many of the world's tourism site has ethnic/cultural/religious meaning. Everyone also have a different artistic "taste" in what they are able to appreciate.

Extreme personal example: The family did a "Roots" trip in Asia. Many of the places were very nondescript and would not be of any significance to anyone but us. At most of the location the locals were watching us in amusement that we find certain building "amusing"
