You should always notify your bank of your upcoming travel. If you don't, you're account could get locked when you attempt to use your credit or debit card overseas.

That's what happened to me when I tried to purchase a Eurostar ticket online. Granted, this occurred while I was in the States. However, the ticketing site wouldn't accept my credit card, and I had to call up Capital One to clear up any fraudulent activity.
