The past couple years I wasn't throwing away anything other than the annual with the mints program. I was already making mint purchases with my other cards, so wasn't like the Delta Am Ex mint purchases could have been made with other cards. The upgrade3s were nice for the west coast trips I took, but seeing that DL is giving away platnium to almost everyone now (I was number 14 as a PM sunday on a SFO/DTW redeye), I will have to reconsider when the card is up for renewal in April. With the mint it was an easy way to get 20K MQMs and over 150,000 regular miles a year.
