Last summer I flew IAD - CPH with my bike and went on SK metal, as they allow pax in C (and Economy Extra, I believe) to check a bike for free. Otherwise, UA would have had my business. I couldn't find any other *A partners with a clearly stated policy like SK...maybe there are others. The check in agent did have to review the rules, but then there were no issues at all.
