Thanks for defending Fisherman's Wharf as a local! I know I'm not the only one who thinks the travel intelligencia has gone overboard in panning it.

I will defend Disney World too -- especially if, as a savvy Flyertalker, you deploy a few tricks. One of the best USA travel deals of the past decade has been when they offer "free Disney Dining" at certain times of the year (usually hurricane season). For about $75/night, you could stay at the fun and adequately comfortable Pop Century "resort" and eat in some excellent restaurants for free. Combine that with intelligent deployment of the Fastpass (no waiting) ticket system, and it made for a nice and very affordable week-long family vacation. Alas, too many people figured out how to "game" the offer, and it seems to be on a bit of a hiatus at the moment, at least in its old most-gameable form.
