FWIW, there is no PLAT desk. The PLAT number rings regular agents, but you get queue priority

EDIT: One question. Were you checking baggage? Checked baggage might be an issue with standby. Also, it was indicated you took a BP for your original flight. Did you then go to the gate of the earlier flight to request standby?

I was just trying to get on the flight in Y.
You are right - there may not be a PLAT desk but I called and the agent on the phone was patient and kind.
No bag being checked - carry on only.
No, I did not go to the gate - I took my original flight.
