Tend to disagree here. They are not introducing 'leg-based pricing' but sector based pricing. So if you get to LAX via JFK it should still be the same price as LHR-LAX direct. Same would apply to YVR I guess.

The only problem I can identify is that there will no longer be freebies from zone 1 and that the sector to sector award will be based on a new mileage chart.

I see no evidence that they will price LHR-JFK-LAX as LHR-JFK plus JFK-LAX.

I don't know if LAX-Zone 2/3 has ever been a freebie. Never booked from the US to here.
