Asiamiles had to offer something similar to what AAdvantage is offering their members however it still pales by comparison to what the latter is doing.
Asiamiles is only offering double base miles. Which is already what AAdvantage members offer their Platinum and Exec Plat members on ever oneworld flights.
ie so a YVR-HKG routing is approx 6392 miles in Biz class. 6392+6392+1598(25%)= 14,382miles. Return is 28,764 only.
AAdvantage is offering Repeat Rewards offers which escalate in bonus miles for each roundtrip on CX.
eg
1st round trip - 25K bonus miles
2nd round trip - 30K
3rd round trip - 40K
4th round trip - 45K
5th round trip - 55K
6th round trip - 75K
7th r/trip on - 110K
That does not include the already 100% bonus base miles if you're a Plat or Exec Plat AAdvantage member.
So for AA's offer... 6392+1598+6392(100% bonus elite miles). Round trip = 28,764.
Then the 1st round trip repeat Rewards offer kicks in 25K bonus. = 53,764
So comparing, say you've got 7 return flights amassed on CX between YVR and HKG.
On Asiamiles, you'd get:
28,764 x 7 = 201,348 miles
On AA, you'd already get :
28,764 x 7 = 201,348 miles
RR bonus: 380,000 miles
Total : 581,348 miles !
The only consolation is that on Asiamiles, the offer extends to economy class travel but not on AAdvantage.
So, which programme do you think you'd rather use?
Edited. Due to miscalculation.
