Advanced apologies if I'm asking something discussed before but I couldnt find it. Does anyone know the strictness of the companion being present at check in when you've booked free or discounted rooms with a companion? I know one hotel that has a self check in kiosk (think it's harrah's ac) but I've been to caesar's Vegas and both my friend and I needed to be there.

Would like to use my friends diamond rate for rooms at harrah's Tahoe and new Orleans but she isn't coming...
